The CFO led me out of the Financial Control department, down the very familiar maze-like passages and made a turn towards the Country Business Manager's {CBM} office. Upon reaching the doorway, he turned to find me several steps behind giving him a suspicious look [all I was thinking about was: what is going on here?!]. He broke out in laughter and I initiated a quick conversation {recalling the details now, cross-examination would be the appropriate word to be used! lol} while walking towards him:
Me: "Did something happen?"
CFO: "No. Can you please enter?"
Me: "I will but, no heads-up as to what this is regarding??"
CFO: "You'll know when you meet him [referring to the CBM]"
+silence+
Me: "Is it the Central Bank?"
CFO: "No."
Me: "The auditors??"
CFO: "No."
Me: "A business issue/weakness we should be worried about in the upcoming Audit & Risk Review?"
CFO: "No...but, is there a weakenss?"
+a slight smile from me & laughter from him+
Me: "Are you sure?"
CFO: "Yes!"
Me: "I bet you really don't know what this is regarding.."
+more laughter from him+
CFO: "Don't you trust me?"
Entering into the office of the CBM's personal assistant, I smiled and murmured in a voice perceptible only to him:
"Who do you trust at work?"
Precilla, the assistant, somehow seemed to already know what was going on. +roll eyes+ Assistants...they know every thing about every thing - before anything even takes place!
I can't narrate in detail the conversation that took place with the Country Business Manager; all I will mention is that the whole incident felt so surreal.
+pause+
But it wasn't.
I was promoted to
Vice President.
Thank God for everything.
As usual, I haven't digested this 'fact' yet; I'll need a few days >_<; Oh & let's see how long it'll take me - this time, to change my designation in outgoing reports. Trust me, you don't want to know the 'historical' details of that story! =)
[I'm not used to having sooo much going on in my life;
I feel like I need hourly briefings.]
