She has been driving around for what seemed like ages.  Every fifteen minutes or so, she would ask herself if she'd driven far enough away from the city.  'No' her mind responds.  So she continues on until the very distant skyscrapers are no longer visible.

She stops at the side of the road
No cars driving past
No breeze;
it was as if time was still here.
A dark silence surrounds her
She remains in the car
Unfastens her seatbelt
Closes her eyes,
shutting away the world -
& screams.
Over and over again.
Tears escape her eyes.
She begins to sob quietly -
& when she does stop
after what seems like hours,
her chest hurts and eyes ache.
She feels worn out.

With her head slumped to the side,
a blank expression
swollen eyelids
and coursed masacara trails 
which had settled on her cheeks -
she stares at the empty road,
reflected in the side-view mirror.
Thoughtless.
It was then that she caught
a glimpse of herself:
Disheveled.
She was..
Lifeless.  Lost.

"Who are you?" she murmured to
the wrecked reflection staring back at her.
