She was frowning.
Her eldest and youngest sons were seated on the couch closest to her bed.
The eldest murmured "talk to her" as I sank into the chair next to her. I slowly leaned towards her, held her hand, gently massaged the swollen fingers and looked at her face:
"Grandma…"
I reached out to her forehead and eased the frown creases.
"Don't frown so much…and don't worry, he will be fine."
"He's in the hospital, they've admitted him…" she blurted worriedly. {My uncle had suffered a stroke..}
I smiled gently, and reminded her that she too, not too far back, had been admitted and was released feeling much better than when she first was taken to the hospital. Her eyes searched my face – probably trying to decide whether my positive comments were genuine or not.
After a long pause, she nodded.
I smiled at her and teasingly asked:
"Now tell me, anyone in the family fought lately??" To which she shook her head.
"No gossip??" She said no.
"Nothing new with you??" She shook her head again.
"Has my grandfather bothered you again??" – to which she giggled. {She has been informing us lately that she 'sees' my late grandfather and she'd be extremely upset if her statements were laughed at or not taken seriously.}
"No, I don't see him anymore."
"Good for you! The man remarries then has the nerve to bring her along with him to your house?!"
She laughed and asked: "You think so??"
"You're better off without him!"
Uncle {in queue}: "Of course!"
There was more laughter from her.
She was no longer frowning.
I then asked her to recite a few prayers she had taught me when I was a child. To my uncles' amazement, my beautiful grandmother recited most of the prayers and even shared with us {I've heard these stories from her on various occasions in the past} stories of her father, sisters/brother, mother and how life was back then. She even recited old poetry <3
I spent an hour and a half with her, until she gently informed me with a smile:
"I'm tired..I can't talk anymore.."
That was when I stood up and planted a kiss on her forehead and placed my cheek against her lips to receive the most loving goodnight kiss ever ♥
I love her;
In ways I can't even begin to describe.
[Sorry for the hiatus.
My world has been flipped upside down.
I will be back soon.
Before I go:
Thank you –
everyone,
for all the support.]
